Squared

Squared is a painting based on the idea that we can move beyond the boundaries we are confined to. This dynamic dimensional work of art shows this expression through the shape of a square while revealing that we are bigger than the edges that define us. Breaking the surface boundaries, a painted plexiglass square hovers above obstructing the surface below. This obstruction asks the viewer to look closely at the details and underlying layers of original acrylic artwork to reveal an underpainting created with wild abandon using energetic brush strokes, splashes of paint, drips and marks that result in various textures.

This artwork has a 3D element of a raised painted piece of 1/8" plexiglass. The painting and acrylic sheet are varnished and sealed. Sides are painted white and is ready to hang.
